If any of you are still out there, I'm going to bet that you think I've all but abandoned my blog? I swear, I haven't. It has really just been a crazy 2009! After I took my Lent break, it wasn't long after that, when we found a GREAT deal on a house here in our town. Long story short, we are moving! We should be in our new home by July 1!!
That's great news, for sure, but there is a full ton of "stuff" to do between now and then. We are remodeling the kitchen before we move in, painting almost every room, landscaping and more. Not to mention the packing up of our current house. WHEW! But it's all good, and I daresay, even fun. We are soooooo excited!
We really needed a little more room for our largish family, so this was a big and perfect answer to prayer. Most importantly, we've got another bedroom so we don't have to cram the kids anymore, wahoo!!
Anyway, hopefully this will explain why I've been so scarce in the bloggy world lately. I've been thinking of you often. And I always think of a million posts to make, but it's grabbing more than 5 minutes to get it on here that seems to be the challenge.
I *did* just buy some of the most beautiful flowers that we are planting tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get some pictures that will do them justice and share them on here in the next day or so.
Flowers make me a very happy person and since I have them so heavily on the brain right now, would you please tell me what your very favorite flower to put in the yard is?
I've always been partial to petunias, especially the purple ones, but I love my roses and day-lilies, too.
I'd love some ideas!

I've never planted them myself, but I love a Gerber daisy. My grandfather always planted them and they remind me of him! :-)
Yeah, you'd totally think I'd have thought of those since it's right there at the top...but no! HA!!
I really, really love Gerber Daisies. They are so simple which is why they're so beautiful in my opinion. LOVE them.
I have a brown thumb, so I am no help in the flower dept.
I'm sorry you are so bored and have nothing to do....
But the house sounds really exciting!
Glad to catch up with you again, Gayle!
hydrangeas! my favorites.
Okay, this isn't my favorite flower necessarily, but the Iris is a super easy one to grow that comes back year after year weather you want it to or not - LOL.
I have some in the corner of my back yard that I have totally neglected year after year and given a good rain the pop right back up. Very low maintenance & sometimes thats a great thing.

Knockout roses are my fave along with some zinnias and hibiscus....
congrats on your new house! as far as plants go, i have no clue! can't wait to see the pictures you take
Sooooo exciting! Have fun getting the new house ready! I'm hoping to paint our apartment next week.
Verbena...get ya some. Comes back every year and butterflies LOVE them. They are a low plant that spreads and fills up space. I have yellow ones...but they come in purple and orange too.
Big congrats on the house! Couldn't have happened to a nicer person!
Flowers make me super happy too! Here are some of my favorites:
Pansies - they look like they are smiling!
Clematis - They are viney and grow up a trellis and come in several different varieties
Gerbera daisies - What's not to love?
Morning glories - Again with the trellis - I don't know what it is about these, but I see them and just feel God's presence! (and presents!)
Angel's trumpets - My mom has these and we are amazed by them every year
Butterfly bushes
I think that is enough! Oh, and tiger lilies -- I have some in my backyard that my grandfather transplanted to my mom's and then we transplanted here -- very sentimental!

Wow, what a huge blessing! One more room for us would be perfect in our 1298 sq ft house, 3 BR, 1 bathroom, 9 people!! Talk about squish!
My favorite flowers are sunflowers, hands down, they make me soooo happy whenever I see them.
One year we put bird seed on the pavement out back, near a gap in the sidewalk. The seed mixture said that the black sunflower seeds were guaranteed not to sprout....
What do you think happened? We grew the most beautiful, biggest, tallest sunflowers for years after that, until we got dogs!
Flowers are God's blessing!

Petunias are my first gardening love.
I love a cute pot with a geranium inside.
And for the times when you want them to come back year after year:
daffodils in the spring
iris and salvia in the summer
mums in the fall
I can't wait to see your home. :)
Okay, for the flowers, zinnias. (spelling?) They come in all colors and they can withstand anything.
For example, I planted a few in a planter and had them on my patio. It finally died in the winter but I never got around to digging it up and it came back and has several new blooms on it! I planted them out front and they were gorgeous. They can survive the heat!
Have a great Sunday!
Love,
Patty
Love you girlie...hope to see you soon. I think we are thinking dinner for Friday night in Bham. :)
Hugs,
Fran
Yay, for you! That is exciting news! Flowers- I love them too. My favourite ones- well... for perennials, I love ones like Echinacea, irises, Black eyed Susans, shasta daisies, lupines, etc, etc. For annuals, I save money by planting nasturtium seeds to fill up holes in my gardens- they grow easily and are bright AND you can eat them- we put them in salads and decorate cakes with them. I love to have sunflowers growing huge and tall too. Oh, and sweet peas...love those.
Congrats on the house! That is awesome. My favorite flower is a Dahlia. They are so pretty. They grow pretty easy and make a garden look beautiful.
So what's up? The first time I get to catch up on my blog girls and both you and Linda from 'Growin with it' are moving? I'm in a bad jealous way over here. There is something about moving that I love, call me odd.
And Gayle, I spent most of last night planting flowers. Gotta get our yard looking purrtty for our daughter's graduation party this weekend.
I'm like an addict. One type isn't enough. I want them all and I want them now. Heading off to the nursery in a few to buy some more.
...and one of my favorites are the mexican sages and the veronica with the purple spikes. Oh, and my butterfly bush is gorgeous right now. Oh, and there's the hydrangea vines I bought that are climbing up my deck posts...goodnes, I think I need an intervention.
Gerber daisies !!!!
All the way!
how exciting!
Hi, I'm a newbie. I planted petunias Sat. too. I like the moonstone bluish lavendar ones, their color pops in the dark w/the moonbeams shining on them. I love flowers. My husband sets a budget every year for how many I can buy. Then I add about a hundred dollars or more worth and we're happily surrounded with blooms all summer, which in Michigan is a very short time. Oh well. Love geraniums, the big ones.
Enjoy your new house, that is exciting. I'd like one myself.
Pop over and see me sometime, when things slow down.
Heidi
