Everybuddy Sin(g)

If you ever need a lesson in humility, take your child to the nursery. Something about that hour with all their little peers causes them to develop diarrhea of the mouth about all of their family's "quirks".
Their is nothing more hilarious to me than listening to a wide-eyed toddler tell you over their goldfish how Mommy called Daddy a *$&^% on the way to church. Yeah, you learn ALOT in the nursery.
However, I am not throwing stones here, because this week it was my cherub-faced angel that decided it would be appropriate to teach all the 3 and 4 year olds how to sing, with feeling, all of the stanza's to Queen's "We Will Rock You".
Apparently he pointed his little chubby finger at the teenage helper and spouted "there's mud on your face, you big disgrace....ect." Thankfully, he and his Mom thought it was funny, which leads me back nicely to where it all began.
We bought some Nintendo bongo drum thing for the kids awhile back and being the homeschooling Mom that I am, I thought it would give them the chance to pick up a lesson in rhythm and keeping the beat and all that good stuff. Well, it worked. But alot of the songs on there are some of those 80's tunes that we used to CRANK back in the day. So guess what? We cranked them again. And again. And again, until Andrew was crooning every one of them by heart. We thought it was hilarious (it is), so we kept doing it just to watch him curl up that lip and play the air guitar.
And then, just as we thought our little secret was safe, he heads to the nursery....and the rest is history.
While my older 3 grew up on Veggie Tale sing-alongs and Wee Sing tapes, my baby is being well-versed in good ol' Rock and Roll. If I knew how to You-Tube, I'd put it on here for you to see.
Anyway, just thought I would tell you that, apparently, my horns are holding up my halo this week. ;)
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Gayle ~ I'm a South African living in NJ blogging friend of Spookies. Stopped by to say hi. My almost ten year old son also loved 'we will rock you' when he was younger - all kids seem to love it ... I think it's the beat. Glad to have found your blog. Will visit again.

Hey, um, well, have I mentioned that my children have recently acquired a taste for the finer things in life?... Like Bon Jovi? Yeeeahh they know a lot of those songs by heart. And I'm talking the 4 year old too.
I'm with you... Bible songs for the oldest; hair bands for the youngest.
They're wearin' me dowwnnn....

Funny, funny stuff, my friend! We, mothers of pre-schoolers, live a very transparent life, don't we? :o)

Gayle,
Nice to see you again. Wondered where you had been. I've thought about a blogger posting but I'm pretty content over at HSB, for now at least. I guess it really doesn't matter to me where the blogs are, as long as their somewhere! Hope you have a less eventful next Sunday. I came home not to long ago to ACDC's Back in Black blaring from my house only to find the friend they had over brought the CD. So what do I do? Immediately call the mom and ask, "Do you know your kid is listening to this?" I was shocked. It's definitely not allowed here. Ugh..I used to listen to that stuff.

Reagan once told her 2 year old nursery teachers (Kimmy and Shannon) that they needed to pray for mommy because she said a bad word. I really don't want to know what other things my children have said without my knowledge!!

That is hilarious! The same thing happened to me. While taking care of Logan upstairs at church, I heard my daughter in a room below leading the other kids in her S.S. class in singing "We will rock you". I had to go apologize to her teacher! :) Linda Ronstadt revamped it as a lullaby on her Lullaby CD that we own and I included it on the kids' morning routine tape. They know the words!

I'm visiting from Javamama's site. I remember my parents (pastors)always flipping out after church and telling us that we have to learn to keep our mouths shut... I never really understood what the big deal was! Now I teach the kids at our church.. and thank goodness my children are in the class with me!! I hear everything and all our little secrets stop right there with me. ;)
