Oh, how I hate to be the next one to say that Christmas is exactly 7 weeks away, but I will because I want you to check out my sweet friend, Ruth's contest. She is crocheting completely adorable snowflakes and giving us the chance to win them. Click on her name above to head that way!
So where are you on your Christmas planning? Are you well on your way or does the thought of it make you cringe? As you might have guessed, I will probably retain the knot in my stomach over Christmas right up until Dec. 25. Then, I will acquire a new knot over the fact that everything I just bought has dropped to clearance level prices.
But you know what? I refuse to be a butt about it this year. My tendency is toward being the biggest Scrooge alive, and I have my very valid reasons (well, at least they are valid to this Scroogette), BUT that is miserable and nobody likes miserable, right?
Honestly, I am so thankful that we celebrate Jesus' birth and I really love all the sounds and smells and spirit of the season, it's just the commercialism and the bondage that it creates....ooops, I let that slip.
I guess I am getting ahead of myself though, seeing that it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, and who could possibly have issues with that holiday?! ~BURP~

Hey there. It's been awhile since I've stopped by.
I'm usually a Humbug about starting to EARLY on Christmas. But this year I'm taking hold of it and enjoying the fun of making it last longer. I've got some things happening over at blog just about this stuff.. so stop by and check it out.

I'm Christmas shopping right this minute! I LOVE online shopping! Check out bargainshopperlady.com She has a deal for a sweater, scarf set, lip gloss for only $20. I ordered two sets- one for myself and one for my SIL for Christmas!
Well, I thoroughly enjoy Thanksgiving but I know that just around that corner is Christmas, so I like to start planning now. I sorta follow the Christmas Countdown by organizedhome.com. Helps me from kickin' myself when my house is a wreck and I have no Christmas goodies.
Yeah, it makes me crazy too. My kids don't want anything--well the little ones want webkinz and the older ones want a Wii. I think the webkinz are doable but there's no way I'm spending that money for ANOTHER gaming system!!!!!!!!
So as a result, I have to blow money on things they really don't want that will be trash or forgotton my February 1.
Bah, Humbug.
I don't start too early. We try to keep things simple. I love to shop when decorations are up and the carols are playing! We did the Christmas boxes this year too, and make a point of doing other giving projects- simple things like the food bank or last year we collected used winter clothing.
When I look back at this comment, it sounds like an annoying goody two shoes one, but beleive me, we are not a perfect family!!! Or stresses come around the busyness of the season- concerts, zipping her and there, etc.
Gayle - I'm jut not sure where things stand for our Christmas this year - we are at a very rough spot financially - I don't think I remember it ever being worse except when Mark hasn't had a job. --- I'm praying for a miracle. - We are behind on our every day things and I just want to get caught back up - so badly. --- Sorry - that is more Cratchet than Scrooge --- I think that the decorations out and about have come out too early. - I like it to be out the day after Thanksgiving and no earlier. --- Charity
It has taken me 10 years to figure this out, but I can say this year, I WILL be done shopping by Thanksgiving. Love to shop... hate the crowds. ~K
put your tree & decorations up early and it helps get you in the mood. i am making my "list" now and hope to start shopping this week. i shop around though, i HATE to pay full price. good luck!!
Happy Thanksgiving Gayle!
My Christmas planning is still in the thinking stage and here it is Thanksgiving night. Oh well!! I hope you win the contest!
