Critters and Capriciousness

Let me tell you something about me that you may or may not have picked up on: I'm whimsical.

Doesn't that sound like the kind of word where you are standing in a flowery field wearing a billowing white cotton dress while the warm breeze tousles your hair? Yeah. That's why I chose it. Because a synonym for whimsical is capricious or even erratic...and well, that just makes me think of seizures, and since there is nothing billowy about seizures, whimsical it is.

So on a whim this past Wednesday, I decided that it would be fun to gather up the chicks and go camp for a few days at the most amazing state park ever. It is on the way home from Mark's work, so we were able to see him each night, and it got us away from t.v.'s, gaming systems, and this bless-ed box for awhile.
I spent my mornings sitting in front of the lake slowly sipping my coffee while doing some major heart surgery with my Father. My Bible reading for the day just happened to land on a passage that talks about how even Jesus had to get away from everything to be with His Abba. And it confirmed that I was right where I was supposed to be. Again. And it made me feel loved. Which made me cry because I seriously need reminded of this in ridiculous repitition.

Every now and then I would look up and someone would be bringing me something:

Pretty soon, I just got off of my duff and went to them:

Here are a few of the helpless critters that made their way back to the Crew's Campsite:

I named this guy up above Avacado. He really looked like one and it made me hungry. The kids left me in charge of Avacado and he never took his eyes off of me (he must have known he was reminding me of food), but he did sit sweetly for his photo session. However, the minute I turned my back one time, the little snot did a death dive off of the table to make a mad dash for the lake. He wasn't a stupid turtle, that one.

We ended up going to the petting zoo one afternoon where we had a great time hanging out with the animals who didn't have a skiddish bone in their bodies:

We basically just chilled and enjoyed each other. So it was a good whim, the kind that I recommend, actually. Oh, and here's one more picture for the road. Just because I completely LOVE it:

Hope y'all are having a blessed weekend! I have enjoyed catching up with you!

**Just wanted to add that I'm sorry if there are any spacing issues. Blogger has been giving me fits lately with spaces between paragraphs and pictures, so rather than burst a blood vessel, I will just do my best to let it go even though it is making me beserk...
**Oh, and hey, one more thing. I totally spelled avOcado wrong up there. Whatever. I just eat 'em.

What a peaceful setting! Wow you are a brave girl--all that camping stuff freaks me out just a little. What blessed children-to have a whimsical mom---great memories.

Hubs and I spent one of our anniversaries at that park. We rented one of the "cabins." When you go camping, how do you do it? Tent? Pop-up? Fifth wheel? Cabin? I would love to take my kids camping, but I'm afraid. Tell me your secrets for camping with four kids.

Looks like fun. Well, minus the lizard, turtle and frogs. :) The lazily sipping coffee and being with Father - that sounds lovely.

Wow, you seem like such great mom. I love that last pic of your girl in the hat. I have pic spacing problems, too. Wonder what the solution is?

We had one of those blue tailed lizards at our house recently.

Camping is not a whim thing for me. I've got to work myself up to something like that. You're a better woman than I.

What a great idea!

I'm glad your heart is tender enough to want to do heart surgery....it's painful! But it's sooooo beneficial.

I love the last pic of your lady, she's a cutie pie....

And that goat is the ugliest goat I've seen!
