Lunch

This is the dude I found in my rose bush yesterday. Yes, he is feasting on a bee. And I am a little disturbed over witnessing this brutality, so we shan't speak of it again.

However, we haven't had an insect identification post for awhile, so I thought I'd ask if you know what kind of spider this is?

Or, you can just say "ewwww".

Thanks, Maria!

I Googled it, and that is exactly what she is!

If y'all want a little science lesson for you and the kids in this, the middle of July, here is an excellent and interesting website about spiders (in particular, this kind)

Writing Spider Website

It turns out that our girl is the same kind of spider as Charlotte!

My kids call these "zipper" spiders.

I scream and usually run in the other direction. A spider (Brown Recluse) put a few scars on my back from it's vicious bite so I am not too fond of them.

I think he has relatives down in Texas. My mom has one of these yarn weaving spiders on the side of her house. EWWW!

My son said it was a TX zipper spider.....maybe, since it's a writing spider with zippers in the web, the two are related?

And I will still say EWWWWWWW!!!!

I don't think it's the same kind as Charlotte. She was an orb weaver and wikipedia (since we know everything that wikipedia says is true) says that she was a barn spider (type of orb weaver).

Am I the only one who thinks your spider is pretty?

HA!! Y'all are cracking me up!

And Yes, Donna, I think she's pretty. But scary. Pretty scary.

Gayle...the owner of this blog, who is too lazy to sign in. How ignorant is that?!

okay, I get to be all tough here and say that that picture doesn't bother me - I don't have pet spiders or anything, but I don't mind them if they mind their own business. We have lots and lots of spiders round these parts, but none that we have to be careful of- they just kinda hang out, doing their own thing. Now, if that was a snake, I would be screaming and falling backwards out of my chair...

A NASTY one! :)
